Guest Curator | 2026-2029

About CCOV

The Centre de Création O Vertigo (CCOV) is an organization entirely dedicated to experimentation and creation. An incubator of ideas and catalyst for talent, the CCOV contributes to the production of high-quality works through its short- and long-term residency programs, enabling local artists to reach international standards. The CCOV also offers a range of activities, including performances, workshops, round tables, and more, for members of the dance community and the general public.

Context

The CCOV is currently seeking its next guest curator for 2026–2029, who will succeed curator Samantha Hinds, aka Sam I Am Montolla. The next guest curator will work closely with the executive director. He or she will be responsible for devising and initiating CCOV’s artistic programming and will be directly involved in selecting artists for all of our programs.

Through their proposals for activities and events, their role is to support, energize, and propel the CCOV’s mission: to contribute to the evolution of contemporary dance practices, support spaces for research and creation, respond to the current needs of the dance community, and strengthen the link between dance and a plurality of social and cultural contexts.

The CCOV is at an important moment in its history: the doors of a new space located at 900 Ontario Street will open in 2026. The chosen curator will play a key role in this milestone, helping to shape the life of the CCOV’s new permanent home after several years of nomadic projects.

Main responsibilities

  • Design a coherent and inspiring cultural and artistic program in line with the CCOV’s mission and the needs of the community.
  • Prepare and supervise each stage of activities: selection of artists, coordination with the team, facilitation, and promotion of events.
  • Collaborate with the administration to manage activity budgets.
  • Participate in promoting curatorial programming (communications, social media, etc.).
  • Monitor news and developments in the dance community.
  • Support the development of grant applications and the production of reports required by funders.
  • Participate in the selection committee for short- and long-term artists-in-residence.

Required profile

  • Good knowledge of the contemporary dance scene in Tio’tia:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal and its current issues.
  • Curiosity and openness to all forms of dance and interdisciplinary practices.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in event organization, programming, or artistic direction.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and teamwork skills.
  • Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written.
  • Informed, sensitive, critical, and contemporary artistic vision.
  • Creativity, autonomy, initiative, dynamism, and professional rigor.

Strengths

  • Well-established professional and artistic network.
  • Influence in the international dance community.

Conditions
The position is offered for a period of three years, at a rate of approximately 12 hours per week, starting in June 2026 (date to be confirmed). Presence at the CCOV at least once a week is required. Annual compensation ranges from $18,100 to $21,250, depending on experience.

Interested candidates are invited to submit their application, including:

  • Your resume;
