Mukoma-K. Nshinga, affectionately known as J. Style, has been passionate about street dance since the tender age of 7. His journey was ignited by the pulsating rhythms and electrifying moves of classic dance films like You Got Served, sparking a lasting passion for this art form.

During his formative years, Mukoma immersed himself in the world of Popping under the tutelage of Montreal’s best: MonstaPop, 7 Starr, and Venom. Driven by an unquenchable thirst for Hip Hop culture, he embarked on a global journey, immersing himself in various dance styles such as Bruk Up and Hip Hop, honing his craft on an international scale by competing against and learning from world-renowned dancers.

His remarkable talents have graced television screens, with appearances on prestigious Quebec dance shows such as Révolution, and in high-profile commercials for brands like Little Burgundy, Gaz Métro, Subway, and Tourisme Montréal. He notably performed the captivating “Ange du Changement” in the Kin Fables trilogy, which won the award for Best Cinematography at the Fantasia International Film Festival. He also made a memorable appearance in a UKG commercial during Super Bowl LVIII, showcasing his energy and dancing talent to a global audience.

Recognized as a discerning judge on the Hit the Floor competition, Mukoma has also proudly represented Canada in dance battles around the world, from Switzerland to France to Senegal. Today, J. Style juggles multiple passions, dedicating his time to his thriving clothing brand, K A N K, followed by organizing the dynamic performance night, Open Body, and contributing to his creative collective, N’TERLUDES. With youth on his side and a future full of promise, Mukoma aspires to inspire others by forging an unconventional path true to his unique expression of dance.
