Mara Dupas

Mara Dupas is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice moves between writing, dance, and choreographic creation on the territory of Tio’tia:ke / Mooniyang (Montréal). Through an intimate, critical, and sensorial approach, they explore the connections between body, memory, and narrative.

Over the past few years, they have created a series of solo performances, including Olympia 2.0 and Dépi temps, presented by Tangente Danse and later toured across Quebec, as well as FANM, which was featured at the Phénoména Festival and OFFTA (2023).

Their writings, published notably in moveo magazine and Zinc journal, extend this search for a hybrid language. Mara explores themes such as family relationships, desire, shame, dirt—both literal and metaphorical—as well as questions surrounding gender identity and non-binarity. Their work is grounded in the lived experiences of Afro-descendants and queer individuals, drawing inspiration from archives and popular culture.
