FREE Contemporary African Dance Workshop with Sarah Elola

Join us at Chalet Kent on Thursday, October 30, for a workshop led by artist and choreographer Sarah Elola. Parents, children, and teens are invited to dive into the world of contemporary African dance together. This space of exchange and learning offers a chance to explore movement, rhythm, and Afro-descendant heritage in a warm, creative, and inclusive atmosphere.

Solo dancer and choreographer Sarah Elola specializes in contemporary African dance and is dedicated to highlighting Black cultures. She offers programs and workshops for all ages. Her creations — solo pieces, youth projects, and visual works — weave together resistance, resilience, and transcendence, guided by the strength and beauty of her roots.

Meet Yannice Ouellet, Philippe Koffi, and Kathleen Charles for a day of sharing and discovery. Body care, mediation, and mental health: free experiences to awaken the body, calm the mind, and build authentic connections in an open and inspiring atmosphere.


YANNICE OUELLET – Deep Body Release

Yannice Ouellet offers Structural Myofascial Therapy, a massage therapy approach that releases the fascia to restore balance and fluidity — a deep technique with both therapeutic and relaxing effects.
BIO
A physiotherapy technologist (since 2015) and massage therapist (since 2024), Yannice Ouellet expanded her expertise by training in Structural Myofascial Therapy (SMT) with Betsy Ann Baron — a method that combines manual care and body awareness to release tension, restore movement, and enhance well-being. A Krump dancer for over 15 years, Yannice brings a deep understanding of movement to her therapeutic practice. Since 2025, she has also been part of Betsy Ann Baron’s team, helping train therapists to offer caring and lasting treatments

PHILIPPE KOFFI – Resolving Conflicts and Improving Communication

Philippe Koffi provides coaching in relationships, conflict resolution, and performance preparation. Conflict resolution or relationship sessions can be held one-on-one or in pairs, while performance coaching is individual.
BIO
An accredited mediator (IMAQ), certified trainer in nonviolent communication (PSSM), and coach, Philippe Koffi works extensively with families in Montréal. He supports human relationships, conflict management, and resilience with empathy and integrity. Grounded in active listening and respect, he builds bridges where differences exist and fosters collective peace. Passionate about nurturing hope, Philippe helps clients transform tension into clarity and calm, bringing healing energy to his community.

KATHLEEN CHARLES – Finding Balance through Movement

Kathleen Charles offers somatic movement sessions.
BIO
Kathleen (Kat) Charles (she/they) is a Haitian mental health practitioner, artist, and co‑founder of the Black Healing Fund in Tio’tia:ke (Montréal). Trained in art therapy and somatic practices, Kat’s community work focuses on creating safe and creative spaces for QTBIPOC youth, both as a facilitator and organizer. Their approach, influenced by decolonization and liberation psychology, seeks to reclaim healing spaces for marginalized communities, placing the body and creative expression at the heart of collective healing. For Kat, mental health thrives through solidarity and community care. They view collective support as essential to resisting systems of oppression and creating lasting well-being for all.
