Aly Keita began his artistic career as a urban dancer in Conakry (Guinea) at the age of 13. He then graduated in circus arts at the Keita Fodeba Centre for Acrobatic Arts (2007-2015), where he also perfected traditional music and ballet.
In West Africa, he collaborated with the Ballet de Matam (Guinea), created by the international dancer and choreographer Sékouba Camara, artistic director of the National Ensemble of Guinea (formerly the African Ballets), the company Teriya Hibiscus (Guinea), Cirque Mandingue (Guinea), Ballets Mandinka (Senegal), Ballets Africains Fanbonies (Senegal), Centre culturel Blaise Sainghor (Senegal).
In 2016, he arrived in Canada thanks to a cultural exchange project between young Inuit and Guineans acrobats. This was for the production of a documentary, Circus Without Borders, shot between Guinea and Nunavut. In Québec, he collaborated with Productions Kalabanté, Cirque Éloize and Cavalia (Odysséo). He then joined the Nyata Nyata dance company, directed by Zab Maboungou, where he completed the Artistic and Professional Training Program in Dance (PEFAPDA) and he also participated as a performer in the work Mozongi.
Between 2020 and 2021, he dedicated himself to the creation of his choreographic work “Djata: Conversations du Manden”, thanks to the support of La Serre Arts Vivants, Les grands Ballets Canadien de Montréal/CAM, les Cliniques dramaturgies du FTA et la Place des arts.
Fascinated by interdisciplinary collaborations, he also participated in music and digital projects (Opéra de Lévis; MAPP_Montréal; Collectif White Wash; etc). In addition to his experience on stage, he accumulated experience in cultural mediation, collaborating with various festivals and organizations in the community, immigration and health fields.
