Lauranne

Lauranne is a transdisciplinary artist. Along her bachelor’s degree in visual arts and her master’s degree in sociology, she works in the contemporary dance world, both as a performer and a choreographer.

Through an approach between dance movement and sociological research, Lauranne tries to promote the art of movement as a fundamentally political act and as a precious tool for rediscovering our liveliness. Sensitive to the urgency of changing our way of being-in-the-world, in particular by reducing our needs and adopting a minimalist lifestyle, she is more specifically interested in the ascetic body and its capacity for self-sufficiency. His artistic work is an empowerment research, even a praxis, in which the notions of autonomy and ecology are central. His work is distinguished by a sustained gesture at the crossroads of hardship and emancipation, effort and pleasure, rigor and gentleness; taking place in strong and sober scenographies that reveal vulnerability.

Since 2019, Lauranne has obtained the support of Studio 303, Circuit-Est center chorégraphique, LA SERRE – arts vivants, Culture Outaouais, Tangente Danse, AXENÉO7, DAÏMON and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, to produce her creations, namely: « Ponos – à l’épreuve du poids » (Tangente, 2019), « D’une montagne sans sommet (ponos II) » (Tangente, 2022), « ZAD (ponos III) » (AXENÉO7, 2023) and « Quand j’ai accouché d’un arbre, j’ai été grande comme une forêt (ponos IV) » (in process).

Lauranne is also the founder and director of the organization Devenir(s) corps, which is currently developing a place for creation residencies and living arts practices, in Montpellier, in Outaouais.
