Working with 16 dancers from Montreal and Vancouver, “miracle’ing” looks at our individual understandings and ways of manifesting and representing virtuosity in the framework of contemporary dance. This process began as an exploration of the idea of virtuosity in movement as seen in traditional North American dance forms, i.e. the triple pirouette, the layout, the grand jeté.  This project works to create a lexicon of “big moves” but simultaneously works to unpack how we think about, define, and enact virtuosity in the studio and onstage, and pursues serendipity through improvisatory practices aka miracles.
