OPEN STUDIO WINTER 2018

To participate in an Open Studio resdiency you must be available
the
27th and 28th of January OR the 24th and 25th of February.

Application Deadline:
29 October 2017

Designed to get audience feedback before the work is finalized, the Open Studio provides choreographers with a chance to show their work and engage an audience well in advance of the dissemination process, thereby allowing artists to develop and refine their early ideas.

THE ACTIVITY IS ATTENDED FOR

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

1/ Choreographers who have completed professional training programs;

2/ Self-taught choreographers who have presented works in a professional context;

3/ Experienced dancers who would like to try their hand at creation;

4/ Artists in any field whose practice implicates dancers, the body or movement in a performative context.

N.B. The Open Studio is specifically for projects that are still in process. Priority is given to proposals that have at least 3 months separating the Open Studio showing from the project’s premiere (if applicable).

1/ Projects that promote reflection and research through the body;

2/ Works that are still in the research phase with specific choreographic concepts that need to be tested. For example: exploring non-traditional artist-audience relationships, using the same section with different music, etc.

3/ Projects whose first phase of creation is already completed, and will thereby benefit from audience feedback to reach its full potential;

4/ Projects that demonstrate rigour and strong artistic ideals.
