THIS ACTIVITY IS ATTENDED FOR
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
1/ Choreographers who have completed professional training programs;
2/ Self-taught choreographers who have presented a minimum of 3 works in a professional context;
3/ Dancers working in performing art with a minimum of 5 years of practice who would like to try their hand at creation;
4/ Artists in the performing arts whose work is supported by a dance presenter.
N.B.
Should a project have a confirmed presentation date, please note that there must be at least four months separating the Open Studio from the premiere.
1/ Projects that promote reflection and research through the body;
2/ Projects whose first phase of creation is already completed, and thereby benefit from audience feedback to reach its full potential;
3/ Rough drafts of works whose parameters of performance need to be assessed. For example: exploring inhabitual artist-audience relationships, using the same section with different music, etc.
4/ Projects that demonstrate rigour and a strong artistic signature.
OPEN STUDIO PERIODS & DEADLINES
TIMETABLE
Four Open Studio periods are offered by the CCOV:

2 in the fall
-
2 in winter
Application deadlines:
- May 31, for the Open Studios in the fall of 2016
- September 30, for the Open Studios in the winter of 2017
- A selection committee will evaluate all applications.
- Artists must mention the CCOV in all promotional documents throughout the presentation process.
Friday:
Meeting with the CCOV’s technical director; studio preparation for audience. Duration: 2 hours.
Saturday:
Choreographer and dancers – rehearsal from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday:
Morning rehearsal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., open doors at 2:30 p.m. followed by discussion with the audience.
TERMS
APPLICATION
Services provided by the CCOV:

Studio;

Rehearsal time in studio (11 hours);

Full access to studio : basic lighting, white cyclorama background or black box, sound system;

Technical director;
- The OVCC will disseminated information about the Open Studio performances via its social media networks. (Approximately 30 people may attend the performance free of charge).
N.B.
- Note that no fees will be paid to the artist.
- The performance may not include any special technical requests, i.e. specific lighting or hanging requirements.
PDF or Word file containing:

Project presentation (one page maximum);

Artist biography, statement, and internet links to the new work if already in progress and to the previous work ;

If it happened, date the work is scheduled to be presented and name of the presenter, or if the date is not yet confirmed, the approximate time frame;

Two questions you hope to address by publicly presenting your work;

A one-paragraph description of what you intend to present and the duration of the presentation.
