The curious summer @CCOV

Published on in Explore, Share

Around for the summer? – Curious, open and want to experiment with new ideas? Taking advantage of the lower traffic in our studios over the summer holidays, we’ve decided to test out 2 pilot initiatives which imagine atypical / out of the box ways to activate the space at the CCOV. Valorizing the sharing of resources and encouraging artists to meet those that are outside of their usual network.

All activities are free and open to artists of all experience levels.

Activity 1
Expanding shared space/ Aug 7 – 11 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

An opportunity to use our studio freely while other artists work alongside in the same space. No reservations required, just drop in and work. Option to work alone, in groups, share your work with others, rehearse, train, warm up, write, conceptualize, hang out. Possibilities are endless. Free wi fi and cheap coffee.

How to participate: simply click “attending” on the event page and come by when you want to work!

Activity 2
Surprise Encounters  Lab/ 3 days only – August 14 and 19

Are you an interpreter interested in discovering new choreographers, choreographic ideas and practices? At the surprise encounters, you’ll have the opportunity to meet a choreographer at the very beginning of their process and experiment with them on a brand new idea.  As an added twist, Interpreters and choreographers will not know who they are working with until they arrive in the space. Seen as a way for both interpreters and choreographers  to engage with a new community of dancers outside of their usual peer group.
