MISSION AND VISION

The Centre de Création O Vertigo

The Centre de Création O Vertigo (CCOV) is devoted entirely to experimentation and creation. Through its short- and long-term residency programs, it contributes to the production of high-quality works by enabling local artists to meet international standards. The CCOV also offers a variety of outreach and engagement activities for members of the dance community and the general public, including performances, workshops, training sessions, roundtable discussions, and more.

MISSION

The Centre de Création O Vertigo (CCOV) is a meeting place dedicated to choreographic experimentation. It supports artists whose work resonates with the contemporary world, offering a neutral, flexible space tailored to each artistic approach.

Our mission is to support the research, creation, and production of choreographic works by addressing artists’ specific needs.

We pay close attention to the overlooked aspects of the dance ecosystem and cultivate artistic rigor.

We are committed to:

  • Providing tailored, ongoing, and sustainable support from the first step through completion of the creative process.
  • Fostering stimulating and unifying experiences for artists, the dance community, and the public by forging fruitful connections between local and international practices through performances, workshops, residencies, and roundtable discussions.
  • Fostering an artistic discourse through practice by nurturing dialogue between choreographic aesthetics and expanding the language of dance.

VISION

The CCOV strives to consistently demonstrate its ability to provide artists with the conditions conducive to deepening their work.

We would like to begin by acknowledging that the Centre de Création O Vertigo – CCOV is located on unceded Indigenous lands. The Kanien’kehá:ka Nation is recognized as the custodians of the lands and waters on which we gather today. Tiohtiá:ke/Montreal is historically known as a gathering place for many First Nations. Today, it is home to a diverse population of Indigenous and other peoples. We respect the continued connections with the past, present, and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within the Montreal community.
