Keenan Simik Komaksiutiksak

Keenan Simik Komaksiutiksak is a two spirit Inuk artist from Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. Their passion for dance emerged at an early age, later gravitating towards dance and circus arts. Simik learned most of their dance training in Ottawa, and began to train more professionally in their teen years at KaliAndrews dance company where they began learning circus arts. Simik is a contemporary dancer and circus artist. Simik began touring and performing on AIDA cruises shortly after high school. Simik now works as a freelance artist residing in Tio’Tia:Ke (Montreal). A few of Simik’s show Highlights include: Sept moment du Joie video show with Cirque Éloize, dancing for Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas at the North American Indigenous Games, Sky Dancers tour with Anowara Dance Theatre. Simik will be working as a guest artist this upcoming year for the Arctic Rose foundation where they will teach dance and other art forms to youth from their home community Rankin Inlet, Nunavut and other northern Inuit communities.
