Hello everyone,
We would like to share with you some news about the future of the CCOV. As of February 28, 2023, the Centre de Création O Vertigo – CCOV will no longer be located at Place des Arts.
Place des Arts has unfortunately terminated our lease. As a result, we will no longer have access to our 3rd floor basement studio: a magnificent jewel that has seen so many works born and performed on stage since 2005 with O Vertigo and Ginette Laurin and, since 2016, under the CCOV banner. In 5 years of existence in this studio, we are proud to have hosted and supported the creation of more than 140 choreographic productions, hosted nearly 350 choreographers during residencies and/or cultural mediation activities as well as a thousand artistic collaborators (performers, designers, etc.).
Having been informed of the PDA’s decision last summer, we were hoping to find a new address before announcing our departure. As you can imagine, finding an equivalent space (size, ceiling height, downtown location) is very rare in Montreal. Rest assured, while we continue to develop a long-term solution, we have several temporary that will allow us to continue our activities after February 2023.
After the difficulties related to the health situation of the last two years, this announcement is a new obstacle to overcome, but we are determined to continue to play a major role in the production and representation of the diverse dance forms that make up our community.
It is time to dream and write the second chapter of the CCOV’s history and during this transition period we need your help! This is why we have created an ideas forum that will allow you to share your needs, your comments, your vision. What is the CCOV of the future: we see it as a permanent artistic refuge, welcoming, open, bubbling and even more innovative!
